Ukraine gets Stinger air defense systems from Lithuania
C-17 transport aircraft with Lithuanian military equipment onboard, including modern Stinger man-portable air defense systems, landed in Kyiv last weekend.
"By the decision of the Government of Lithuania, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were provided with modern Stinger MANPADS, bulletproof vests for the military, and other equipment. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have become even stronger," the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine posted on Facebook on February 13.
As noted, Ambassador of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas and Defense Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine Darius Adomaitis met the cargo and heard many words of gratitude from Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Havrylov and the military leadership who participated in the donation ceremony.
Ambassador Sarapinas said that military and other support from Lithuania to Ukraine would be stepped up in this difficult time.
On February 10, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė met in Kyiv. The Prime Minister of Lithuania stated that the Lithuanian Stinger MANPADS and missiles would arrive in Ukraine in the coming days.
On February 11, the heads of government visited Luhansk region, where they got acquainted with the work of the entry-exit checkpoint.
