Ukraine’s police investigating 10,800 Russian war crimes
Police investigate about 10,800 war crimes committed by the Russian Federation.
"Police investigate about 10,800 war crimes committed by the Russian Federation," the National Police communications department reports with reference to Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko.
It is noted that police officers perform their duties 24/7 amid the war, and investigators and forensic scientists continue to collect evidence of brutal crimes of Russian invaders. In particular, specialists from France, Poland, and Lithuania are also involved in this work.
"Every crime that has been or will be committed in the territory of our state will be documented and the enemy will be punished duly: both in the courts of Ukraine and the international community," Klymenko said.
According to him, the police presence has been strengthened in the settlements liberated from the invaders, and additional mobile and foot police patrols have been set up to take care of people's safety.
"Every police officer – especially in the areas that were temporarily occupied – almost all remained in their workplace and performed their functions to the last. And I am sure that they will continue to do so," said the National Police chief.
The police officers are the last to leave the occupied territories because they help people evacuate to safe areas, he added.
