Greece starts to send BMP-1 IFVs to Ukraine, FM Kuleba says

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has announced the start of BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle shipments from Greece to Ukraine.

A relevant statement was made after talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Dendias, during their joint press conference in a bomb shelter in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We especially appreciate the weapons that Greece is transferring to Ukraine so that we can defend our land. It is very important that the long-awaited shipment of BMP-1 armored infantry vehicles from Greece to Ukraine has already begun. Soon they will arrive in our army and will immediately strengthen the fighting capacity and defense capabilities of our country," Kuleba said.

The minister noted that the issue of the development of cooperation in this area was raised at the meeting with Dendias. According to Kuleba, strengthening the air defense and missile defense is the top priority for Ukraine now.

"Greece knows our request and will process it," Kuleba said.

As reported, Germany sent the first batch of Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Greece so that it could hand over BMP-1 vehicles to Ukraine.
