Despite efforts by 30 countries, Ukraine’s ammo demand not fully covered – MoD Turkey

In Russia's war against Ukraine, despite the joint efforts being taken by approximately 30 nations, Ukraine's ammunition demand has not been met in full.

This proves the need for better preparation of weapon and ammunition stocks, says Minister of Defense Yasar Güler of Turkey, who spoke ahead of the NATO defense ministerial in Brussels, Ukrinform reports with reference to TRT Haber.

"During the Russo-Ukrainian war, approximately 30 countries united and still could not meet Ukraine's ammunition needs. This clearly demonstrates the importance of better preparation of weapon and ammunition stocks, as well as the defense sector," Yasar Güler said.

The Turkish Defense Minister emphasized that NATO is of vital importance for ensuring defense and deterrence in the Euro-Atlantic region, being the collective guarantor of Allies’ security.

"We support the cooperation efforts between NATO and the European Union. We will once again emphasize the need to ensure the full participation of non-EU allies in EU defense initiatives," the minister said.

According to the defense chief, at the meeting in Brussels, the Turkish delegation will once again emphasize their strong support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity.

"In this regard, we will emphasize the importance we attach to the security and stability of the Black Sea and our careful, responsible, impartial and uncompromising adherence to the Montreux Convention. We will present our thoughts and assessments regarding efforts to strengthen the defense structure and deterrence in NATO," Yasar Güler said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, despite the postponement of the Ramstein-style leaders' meeting, the heads of NATO's defense ministries will meet in Brussels this week, where they will review the current progress as regards delivering on the obligations undertaken by Ukraine's partners on arms supplies.
