Air defense, frontline stabilization: Zelensky holds Supreme CinC Staff meeting in Zaporizhzhia

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff meeting in Zaporizhzhia where air defense and stabilization of the frontlines were on top agenda.

The Head of State of Ukraine said this in an evening video address to the nation, seen by Ukrinform.

“A lot of work is required on Zaporizhia: security situation, sky protection. I held a Staff meeting here today, and primarily it was about air defense, stabilization of the frontline, achieving our main security tasks. We need real peace, and therefore, we must be really strong to this end. And we must do everything so that each day brings us closer to peace,” Zelensky noted.

While in Zaporizhzhia region, the president also visited the first school opened in a shelter.

“It is safe. A thousand children can study there. And thanks to this, third-graders, second-graders, and the youngest children were able to study together. Together, offline, so that all social skills are available. This is very important – so that the war does not take away the chance for our children to become successful adults. We are building other such schools in front-line regions and in Zaporizhzhia region in particular. We will talk with partners next week for the sake of more air defense, for the sake of peace to come sooner," Zelensky emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that the construction of five underground schools is being completed in Zaporizhzhia, one of them in the village of Balabyne, just 20 km from the front line.
