PGNiG to sell up to 800 mln cu m of gas to Ukraine this year
The Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) sold 430 million cubic meters of gas in the first three quarters in Ukraine. The full-year company's gas sales in Ukraine will reach 700-800 million cubic meters.
Vice Chairman of the PGNiG Management Board for Trade Maciej Wozniak said this at a press conference in Warsaw, answering the question by an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We sold 430 million cubic meters of gas in the first three quarters in the Ukrainian market. We hope to double this result by the end of the year and reach the level of 700-800 million cubic meters," Wozniak said. At the same time, he added this would depend on the developments in the Ukrainian market.
PGNiG Vice Chairman stressed that the Polish side used the interconnector to export gas to Ukraine and was preparing to transport gas to Ukraine via a different route – through the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
He explained that the gas supplies to Ukraine through those countries were not a kind of alternative to expanding the capacities of the interconnector between Poland and Ukraine, but "additional opportunities for gas transportation to Ukraine."
Wozniak recalled that the PGNiG recently signed agreements with Ukrtransgaz on operation of Ukrainian gas pipelines and gas storage facilities, which allows for the "multidimensional cooperation" with Ukraine.
