Economic Development Ministry: Growth of digital economy in Ukraine can create over 300,000 new jobs

The development of digital economy in Ukraine can create more than 300,000-400,000 new jobs and over 50 new professions.

This is stated on Facebook page of the press service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine.

"According to expert estimates, the digital sphere can generate more than 300,000-400,000 new jobs and create over 50 new professions. Moreover, the cities will start to develop thanks to electronic management platforms and qualitative transformations in whole industries," the statement reads.

The Ministry notes that now the state of affairs in this field is unsatisfactory. Only 17% of Ukrainian industries use innovations, whereas in the EU this indicator reaches about 49%. Moreover, about 35% of the rural population, the majority of Ukrainian schools and healthcare facilities in Ukraine do not have access to broadband Internet at all.

"However, the situation can be remedied. Ukraine may reach over 80% broadband Internet coverage through investments and implementation of public-private partnership projects in a few years. The experience of Sweden, Korea, Estonia, Ireland and Israel shows that the immediate effect of the integrated development of the digital economy is 20% of GDP during five years," the Economic Development and Trade Ministry notes.
