Creation of energy hub with Lithuania and Poland will ensure energy independence from Russia – Parubiy
The creation of an East European Energy Hub will allow Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania to become energy independent from the Russian Federation.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy said this at a joint press conference with the speakers of Lithuania and Poland in Vilnius, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"We have discussed joint actions in energy security – they are set out in the final document of the ninth session of the Assembly of Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland. In particular, we are talking about the idea of creating a single energy hub and combining our efforts, both combining our power plants and supplying gas, since liquefied gas that is supplied to the Baltics today and gas storage facilities that exist in Ukraine together can create a large complex, which will allow us to achieve energy independence from Russia,” Parubiy said.
According to him, this issue was discussed in detail at the level of experts and included in the resolution.
“In the future, our government ministries will be instructed to implement these recommendations,” the Ukrainian speaker added.
As reported, the ninth meeting of the Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania Inter-Parliamentary Assembly was held in Vilnius on November 12-13.
