Germany to allocate almost EUR 85 million for Ukrainian projects

In Berlin, Ukraine and Germany signed an intergovernmental protocol on the allocation of EUR 84.8 million to our state for technical and financial cooperation projects.

“The three main areas funded by Germany are the restoration of Donbas, energy efficiency and vocational education,” First Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Maksym Nefyodov said.

Ten projects are already being implemented, three more have just started, among them is a project on metrology, which is becoming very important in the context of European integration, the official said.

According to the first deputy economic development and trade minister, the amount of assistance is reviewed annually, and "we are happy that Germany continues to support us and the amount of aid is growing every year." The sum of EUR 85 million is divided between loans at preferential interest rates and grants.

Germany is an important partner of Ukraine in the field of technical assistance for reforms. Since 2002 Berlin has allocated EUR 705.8 million for these purposes, the main part of which was given over the last 4-5 years.
