Ukravtodor to create office of intelligent transport systems

The State Road Service of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) intends to create an office of intelligent transport systems and build a weigh-in-motion system for trucks.

Head of Ukravtodor Sławomir Nowak stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We are implementing new technologies of safety and safe operation of roads. An important task for this year is to create an office of ITS (intelligent transport systems) in the structure of Ukravtodor. We have already launched a pilot project for weighing trucks in motion. As part of ITS, we plan to build a common system for 200-250 platforms for weighing trucks in motion," said Nowak.

He added that Ukraine signed "preliminary agreements" with European banks on the provision of European assistance for the construction of a common system of such platforms. As part of the introduction of ITS, traffic control, automatic speed control, truck traffic control and payment collection from them are also envisaged.
