EU and Russia agree on gas talks with Ukraine in September
The European Union and the Russian Federation have agreed to hold trilateral gas negotiations with Ukraine by the end of September, Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic has stated.
"Good to have talked to Russia's Energy Minister Novak. We have agreed to hold the next trilateral gas talks this month. The precise date to be announced soon, after consulting the Ukrainian side," Sefcovic wrote on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian Energy and Environmental Protection Minister Oleksiy Orzhel had a telephone conversation with Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic.
"The Ukrainian delegation, which I head, is ready to take part in trilateral gas talks this month," Orzhel said.
During the conversation, the parties emphasized that cooperation in the energy sector would remain one of the key priorities of relations between Ukraine and the EU, and Ukraine’s integration into European energy markets would contribute to strengthening the energy security of both sides.
