Network of trade POS terminals grows by 14% - NBU

The network of trade POS terminals has increased by 14.1% in Ukraine since the beginning of 2019, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported.

"Since the beginning of 2019, the network of POS terminal in Ukraine has grown by 14.1% to 318,400 units, of which 89% of POS terminals provide contactless payment (compared with 79.4% as of January 01, 2019,” reads the report.

At the same time, the regional distribution of the POS terminals’ network in Ukraine varies, the National Bank noted.

The lowest number of payment terminals per capita has been recorded in western regions of Ukraine and in Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

“The largest number of payment cards and payment devices for their servicing has been recorded in Kyiv city, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions," the NBU stressed.

The total number of ATMs and self-service machines in Ukraine remained almost the same: as of October 1, 2019, they numbered 19.7 thousand and 16.6 thousand, respectively, the central bank added.
