During a working trip to Volyn region, President Volodymyr Zelensky got acquainted with the progress of repair work on the highway leading to the Yahodyn checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, and instructed to repair the road leading to Shatsky Lakes by the summer.
"As part of a working trip to Volyn region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky got acquainted with the course of repair works on the section of the M-07 Kyiv-Kovel-Yahodyn highway (to Lublin). The repair of the highway is carried out within the framework of the Great Construction national program," the press service of the head of state reported.
This road is one of the strategic ones for the state: it has a high traffic, the route leads to one of the largest border checkpoints of Ukraine - Yahodyn, so it is called "Warsaw highway".
The highway coincides with the Baltic Sea-Black Sea transport corridor and is also part of the E373 international highway.
The President was told that the length of the M-07 highway in the region is almost 160 km, and the length of the road in the Kovel - Yahodyn direction is 60.4 km. From 2001 to 2019, 30 km of roads were reconstructed. This year, construction works worth UAH 107.1 million are being carried out on the highway.
According to Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Oleksandr Kubrakov, half of the roads in Volyn region are already in normal condition. As part of the Great Construction program, in addition to international, national and regional roads, 67 km of territorial roads are being repaired in the region. Territorial roads are left for 2021, in particular the road leading to Shatsky Lakes. Its restoration has also started this year and is planned to be completed next year.
"Let's do everything by the summer. After all, Shatsky Lakes are one of the best Ukrainian tourist magnets,” the President said.
