Government approves procedure for compensation for electric heating
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a procedure for paying compensation to people who use electric heating, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.
"The government has approved a compensation procedure for people who use electric heating. Such compensation will be accrued automatically (to the personal accounts of consumers). No certificates or statements need to be written," he wrote on his Facebook page on Monday, February 1.
According to him, "compensation will be paid to people whose homes are equipped with electric heating systems and whose houses are not gasified or do not have district heating." Compensation will also be paid to large families, foster families and family-type orphanages. In total, this is more than 600,000 Ukrainian families. The state will allocate UAH 1.4 billion for this type of compensation, Shmyhal said.
He stressed that this decision was one of the steps by the government, which will help reduce tariffs and establish fair rules in the gas and electricity markets.
Shmyhal promised earlier that consumers who have installed electric heating systems would get compensation for an increase in electricity tariffs.
