Ukraine, Poland have every opportunity to create joint gas hub – Makogon

Ukraine and Poland have every opportunity to create a joint gas hub in Eastern and Central Europe, Sergiy Makogon, CEO of Gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) of Ukraine, has said.

Ukrinform reports that with a reference to the company’s press service.

"Our gas markets are the largest in the region - about 50 billion cubic meters a year. Poland has a plan for the development of LNG terminals, the Baltic gas pipeline and connectors with neighbors. With access to the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, our countries can create a powerful north-south gas corridor that will ensure the energy security of the whole of Southeast Europe,” said Makogon.

According to him, the deepening of cooperation will allow the countries to coordinate their efforts to implement the decarbonization plan, increase guaranteed capacities, and counteract external challenges.

As reported, Poland's state-owned oil and gas company PGNiG announced about the signing of an agreement with the Ukrainian-American company "Energy Resources of Ukraine" (ERU), which provides for joint exploration for gas in Ukraine.
