Melnyk plans to launch Bureau of Economic Security by late November
Director of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) Vadym Melnyk plans to launch the agency by the end of November.
"We have set a goal to launch the Bureau of Economic Security by November, and I see that it is quite possible to do so," Melnyk announced during a press conference entitled "Launch of the Bureau of Economic Security: stages, timeline, innovations" at the Ukrinform news agency.
He noted that in the first stage, in order to launch the agency, it is necessary to provide about 30 percent of the staff.
"It is necessary to recruit about 210 full-time employees to ensure the activity of the BES," Melnyk said.
According to him, it is necessary to recruit at least 10 people in each area.
"That is, we plan to launch BES within three or four months at most," Melnyk noted.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Vadym Melnyk as the Director of the Bureau of Economic Security. Melnyk headed the State Fiscal Service since the end of 2020. Prior to that, he held various positions in the tax police. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law of Ukraine “On the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine” on January 28, 2021. On May 12, the Cabinet of Ministers established the Bureau of Economic Security, which is tasked with countering offenses that encroach on the functioning of the domestic economy.
