Government approves procedure for mandatory sale of electricity through e-auctions
At a meeting on September 22, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for the mandatory sale of electricity by producers through electronic auctions.
Ukrinform reports this with a reference to the Energy Ministry’s press service.
"From now on, electricity producers, regardless of ownership (except for those producers who have a green tariff and electricity producers who have acquired the right for support as a result of an auction), sell electricity under bilateral agreements exclusively through electronic auctions," the report says.
The Ministry of Energy notes that this creates a level playing field for electricity trading in the market of bilateral agreements for all categories of electricity producers. The new rules are expected to encourage both producers and consumers to focus on long-term contracts.
As reported, from September 1, 2021, all producers are required to sell electricity on the energy exchange.
