State Agency on Energy Efficiency to set up office to help cities in developing ‘green’ projects
The Ukrainian State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving will set up a technical office that will provide support to Ukrainian cities in developing "green" projects.
Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency Valery Bezus said this at a meeting with Deputy Head of the EBRD office in Ukraine Irina Kravchenko, Ukrinform reports.
"Currently, we are working on the creation of a technical office at the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, which will provide assistance to cities in developing and supporting green projects,” he said.
In addition, Ukraine is implementing needed measures so that to launch a green bond market.
According to Bezus, an interdepartmental working group has already been set up, and negotiations are underway with local government bodies to implement the first pilot projects.
"We are actively working to launch a market for these types of securities. The legislation envisages the legal basis for the issuance of green bonds,” the head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency added.
As Ukrinform reported, on July 1, a new version of the law “On Capital Markets and Organized Commodity Markets” came into force in Ukraine, which introduced “green” bonds as a separate subtype of securities.
