Ukrtsukor: Sugar production reached almost 292,000 tonnes this year

As of October 8, Ukraine produced 291.9 thousand tonnes of sugar and processed 2.06 million tonnes of sugar beet, according to the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine.

The sugar beet processing is carried out at 28 sugar refineries across the country.

As Ukrinform reported, this year sugar refining season in Ukraine officially started on August 21. According to data provided by the Economy Ministry, Ukraine’s sugar production is expected to reach 1.4 million tonnes.

Last year, the sugar refining season in Ukraine began on September 5, with 30 sugar refineries operating across the country. Ukraine produced 1.1 million tonnes of sugar.
