Naftogaz applies for participation in Nord Stream 2 certification

NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has submitted an application to the German regulator for participation in the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Naftogaz CEO Yuriy Vitrenko said this at a briefing on Monday, October 18, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Naftogaz, as a national company that leads the struggle for Ukraine's energy security and defends national interests, has applied for participation in the certification process of the Nord Stream 2 operator before the German regulator," Vitrenko said.

According to him, the company's official position is that the pipeline cannot be certified due to its non-compliance with European legislation. In particular, Nord Stream 2 is controlled by the gas supplier, third-party access to the pipeline is not provided and it does not comply with the principle of solidarity.
