Ukraine’s industrial production up 1.4% in Jan-Sept 2021

The volume of Ukraine’s industrial production grew by 1.4% in January-September 2021 compared with the relevant period last year, according to the Ministry of Economy.

In particular, production in the processing industry grew by 1.6% over the reporting period, the production in mining and quarrying - by 1.2%, supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - by 1.2%.

According to the State Statistics Service, the production of investment goods rose by 2.5%, and it contributed the most to the index of industrial products. In particular, the production of furniture, other products; repair and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 5.5%, the production of rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic products - by 0.8%, mechanical engineering - by 0.7%.

At the same time, the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning in September decreased by 2.4% against the background of reduced consumption of natural gas due to an increase in its cost. In particular, according to the State Statistics Service, in August 2021, gas consumption decreased by 24.6% compared to August 2020.

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine’s industrial production decreased by 5.2% in 2020 compared to 2019. In 2019, Ukraine’s industrial production decreased by 1.8% compared to 2018; in 2018, the growth of industrial production was 1.1% compared to 2017.
