Gas reserves in Ukraine’s USFs stand at 18.1 bcm - Naftogaz
As of November 3, natural gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities (USFs) across the country amount to 18.1 billion cubic meters, while nearly 800 million cubic meters have been pumped out since the start of October.
That’s according to the chief of the Integrated Communications Department at Naftogaz of Ukraine, Maksym Bilyavsky, who was speaking with journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"As of November 3, 2021, the volume of gas in Ukraine's underground storage facilities reached 18.1 billion cubic meters. This level of underground storage is 13% higher than the average recorded in the period from 2011 to 2019," Bilyavsky said.
He stressed that the current reserves confirm readiness of Ukraine’s USF network for the upcoming winter.
Before the start of the heating season, Ukrtransgaz JSC pumped almost 18.9 bcm of gas into the underground storage facilities. Since heating season start, about 800 million cubic meters has been pumped out.
As reported, gas extraction from USFs was launched on October 7 due to air temperature drop and increased energy consumption in private households.
Ukrtransgaz is part of the Naftogaz group, controlling 12 underground gas storage facilities throughout Ukraine with a total capacity is 31 billion cubic meters.
