Energoatom, France's Framatome discuss prospects for cooperation

Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom and France's Framatome have held a meeting as part of the World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE) 2021, during which they discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and hydrogen production, Energoatom's press service has said.

According to the report, on November 30, 2021, as part of his participation in the World Nuclear Exhibition 2021, Acting President of Energoatom Petro Kotin met with Senior Executive Vice President of Framatome Frederic Lelievre.

"Both parties emphasized the importance of the French-Ukrainian partnership in the field of nuclear energy and discussed current cooperation and prospects for its expansion in other areas, including hydrogen production at Ukrainian nuclear power plants," Energoatom said.

Both companies have agreed to continue cooperation at the management level and at the expert level as part of the implementation of the 2020 memorandum of understanding in the nuclear energy sector, the report said.

Kotin earlier met with Jean-Bernard Levy, CEO of Electricite de France (EDF) to discuss cooperation in the implementation of joint projects in the operation, modernization and maintenance of nuclear power plants, as well as the possibility of implementing new nuclear technologies in Ukraine.
