Assisting exporters, attracting foreign investment: Shmyhal outlines Government’s priorities

The Government’s priorities in the area of economic diplomacy remain constant: assisting Ukrainian exporters and attracting foreign investment to Ukraine.

“We set these priorities last year. In 2021, already 202 Ukrainian companies have started export activities abroad with the assistance of Ukrainian diplomats. Eighty-three foreign companies have started investing in Ukraine over this period. I want to thank all the employees of diplomatic missions for this," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at the conference "Diplomacy 30. Strategy of Strong State", Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.

According to the Prime Minister, almost $6.5 billion in foreign investment in Ukraine is expected at year-end. This is the highest level in recent years.

Shmyhal noted that the law on state support for investment projects with significant investments had come into force. According to him, the first two companies have already signed the necessary package of documents and submitted two investment projects worth $ 96 million.

"More than 20 projects worth over $2 billion are pending. Our common goal is to attract at least $5 billion in large investments every year," Shmyhal added.

The Prime Minister also thanked the ambassadors for their assistance in providing Ukraine with vaccines, as well as for their work towards providing Ukraine’s aid to other countries in overcoming their challenges.

As reported, the conference of Ukrainian ambassadors to foreign countries "Diplomacy 30. Strategy of Strong State" is held at the presidential residence "Syniohora" in the village of Huta, Ivano-Frankivsk region, on December 21-22.
