EU lifts restrictions on import of poultry products from Ukraine

On January 17, the European Union lifted restrictions on the import of poultry products from Ukraine, which were in force since December 2020 due to avian influenza.

“Restrictions applied to quarantine areas where cases of the highly pathogenic avian influenza were detected, while products from uninfected areas were allowed to be exported to the EU. Restrictions were lifted in full thanks to the efforts made to eliminate outbreaks of HPAI and prevent the spread of the disease,” the press service of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection informs.

In recent years, the system of state control over avian influenza in Ukraine has been repeatedly assessed by inspectors of the competent authorities of trading partner countries, including the EU, USA, Japan, Canada, and China. Ukraine’s state control system was recognized efficient.
