Kyiv gets UAH 76M in tourist tax revenues in 2021

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine restrictions, the budget of Kyiv city received UAH 76 million of tourist tax revenues in 2021, which indicates the successful development of capital’s tourism sector.

This information has been provided by Victoria Mukha, a member of the Kyiv City Council and the head of the standing commission on culture, tourism and public communications, Ukrinform reports, referring to the city council’s press service.

According to Mukha, the tourism sector in Kyiv shows record financial results, which means the successful development of the tourism industry in the capital.

"Tourism is a promising area that needs to be developed. Therefore, the city authorities will continue to work on improving the image of Kyiv as a tourist city in order to increase the number of tourists. Last year, the capital received UAH 76 million in tourist tax revenues to the local budget, which is a record compared to previous years. This indicates the successful implementation of the tourism development policy and joint efforts with the public sector," she said.

According to her, despite travel restrictions due to the pandemic, 900,000 foreign and more than 2 million domestic tourists visited Kyiv last year, according to preliminary data.

As Ukrinform reported, in 2021, most of the tourists visiting Ukraine came from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Canada and the United States.
