Ukraine’s public debt down to 45.2% of projected GDP – Finance Ministry
Ukraine’s public debt decreased to 45.2% of the projected GDP, whereas the total public and publicly guaranteed debt - to 51.1%, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Finance Ministry’s press service.
The share of public debt in the national currency as of the end of December 2021 amounted to 40.0%.
As of the end of December 2021, the total public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine amounted to UAH 2,671.83 billion in the national currency equivalent ($97.95 billion in the foreign currency equivalent). Compared to the previous month, the public and publicly guaranteed debt of Ukraine rose by UAH 113.3 billion in the hryvnia equivalent.
As of the end of December 2021, the public debt amounted to UAH 2,362.49 billion ($86.61 billion), of which 45% is state domestic debt and 55% is state external debt, which consists of loans from international financial organizations (24.7% of total public debt), Eurobonds (26.5%) and other external debt (4%).
In December 2021, the Finance Ministry held 27 auctions for the placement of domestic government bonds and raised UAH 74.9 billion to the state budget.
