Ukrainian delegation in France discusses prospects of economic cooperation
As part of an official visit to France, the Ukrainian delegation held a series of talks on financial support for Ukraine, cooperation in the energy sector and participation of the French business in Ukrainian infrastructure projects, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Ukrainian president’s website.
According to the head of the delegation, First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, the Ukrainian side informed about the security situation around Ukraine. She stressed that the situation in the Ukrainian economy is stable and under control.
In addition, Ukraine is negotiating with partners to create financial reserves to ensure the stability of its financial system in the event of possible escalation by Russia. In particular, the Ukrainian delegation met with Minister of Economy and Finance of France Bruno Le Maire to discuss the possibility of providing financial support to Ukraine on preferential terms.
Separately, the issue of bilateral cooperation in the nuclear sector was raised. According to Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Rostyslav Shurma, in this context, Ukraine is developing a detailed program of cooperation with the French corporation Électricité de France (EDF).
The participation of French companies in the projects of the National Program "Great Construction", initiated by the Ukrainian President, was also discussed. Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that at a meeting with Alstom representatives, details of the purchase of the company's locomotives were discussed.
"An intergovernmental agreement has been signed between Ukraine and France. We are discussing the terms of our commercial contract. This is important for our economy, for our state," Kubrakov said.
