Energoatom, OCNI sign memorandum of cooperation
Ukraine’s NNEGC Energoatom and the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, Ukrinform reports, referring to the press service of Energoatom.
“NNEGC Energoatom and the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) reaffirmed their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and related technologies,” reads the report.
The Memorandum of Understanding between OCNI and Energoatom is expected to encourage cooperation between Canadian and Ukrainian nuclear research institutes and universities in the areas of nuclear research, development and nuclear education.
OCNI is an association uniting more than 240 leading suppliers of the nuclear industry in Canada and the international marketplace. OCNI member companies employ more than 20,000 highly skilled and specialized people, who manufacture major equipment, medical and safe applications of nuclear technology, and provide engineering support services with CANDU and SMR technology for nuclear power plants domestically and internationally.
As reported, Ukraine is developing a detailed plan for cooperation with the French corporation Électricité de France (EDF). Energoatom also cooperates with the U.S. company Westinghouse, in particular, on the construction of new nuclear power units.
