Erdoğan: FTA will prompt trade turnover with Ukraine to reach $10B
President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hopes that Ukraine and Turkey will be able to quickly reach the planned trade turnover of $10 billion due to signing the free trade agreement.
Erdoğan made a corresponding statement at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on February 3, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The President of Turkey said that the parties had touched upon all aspects of bilateral relations during today's talks. In addition, the leaders considered steps to reach a $10 billion trade turnover. Last year, the Ukraine-Turkey trade grew by 60%, totaling $7.5 billion.
"I sincerely believe that the free trade agreement, which has just been signed, will allow us to achieve this goal quickly," Erdoğan said.
Turkish investors in Ukraine are one of the most important pillars of cooperation between the countries, he added.
"We are proud that Turkish companies have been implementing successfully infrastructure projects in Ukraine. I would like to thank the President [Zelensky] once again for the trust in our companies," said the President of Turkey.
