Raw milk supplies to processing enterprises in Ukraine down 8.9% in 2021

In 2021, supplies of raw milk to processing enterprises in Ukraine decreased by 8.9% compared to 2020, to 3.20 million tonnes.

In total, Ukrainian processing enterprises received 3.20 million tonnes of milk last year, which is 8.9% less than in 2020. In particular, 2.48 million tonnes of milk were purchased from agricultural enterprises (down 3.1%), 554.0 thousand tonnes were obtained from households (down 24.4%).

In 2021, processing enterprises received the largest supplies of raw milk from agricultural enterprises and households of Vinnytsia region (505.81 thousand tonnes; down 6.5% from 2020), Poltava region (350.64 thousand tonnes; down 6.3%), and Kyiv region (279.34 thousand tonnes, down 14.8%). The lowest amount of raw milk in 2021 came from Donetsk region (11.91 thousand tonnes, down 13.2%), Odesa region (11.96 thousand tonnes; down 8.4%), and Ivano-Frankivsk region (18.22 thousand tonnes, down 3.1%).

Purchase prices for raw milk in 2021 increased by 18.8% compared to 2020 and totaled an average of UAH 9,385 per tonne. Agricultural enterprises were selling raw milk at UAH 9,936 per tonne on average (up 16.0% from 2020), households - at UAH 6,921 per tonne on average (up 24.2%).

As reported, according to the State Statistics Service, supplies of raw milk to processing enterprises decreased by 7.6% in 2020 compared to 2019, to 3.51 million tonnes.
