Coal reserves at Ukraine’s TPPs up 8.6% over week - operator

Coal reserves in the warehouses of Ukraine’s thermal power plants amounted to 657,200 tonnes as of February 7, 2022, which is 8.6% more than reported on January 31.

That’s according to NEC Ukrenergo, Ukrinform reports.

"As of February 7, the total coal reserves in TPP warehouses stand at 713,700 tonnes, including 647,700 tonnes of gas-grade coal and 66,000 tonnes of anthracite," the statement reads.

As of January 31, there were 657,200 tonnes, the report adds.

It is noted that as of 14:30 on February 7, Building A of Unit 7 at Slovianska TPP is undergoing emergency repairs.

In addition, according to the manufacturers' requests, due to the lack of fuel, 20 TPP and CHPP units with a total capacity of 5.1 GW remain idle.

From January 31 to February 7, TPPs generated 100.4 million kWh of power, which is 21.3% below the level recorded in the previous week. The share of thermal power plants in the power load coverage was 20%.

As reported earlier, as per the Ministry of Energy, the reserves available to Ukraine’s power system allow the nation to go through the heating season without interruptions.
