Zelensky proposes holding fifth German-Ukrainian economic forum

Ukraine and Germany have promising areas for cooperation, so it would be important to hold the fifth German-Ukrainian economic forum in 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.

He said this at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Kyiv on Monday, February 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Germany is one of our priority trading partners in Europe. We agreed that in the strategic perspective, one of the key elements of Ukraine's resilience and stability in the region should be German investments in Ukraine. The interest in increasing them is mutual. Therefore, I will propose organizing the fifth German-Ukrainian economic forum this year," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also called for deepening intergovernmental consultations between Ukraine and Germany.

"We have many important promising areas for deepening cooperation, so it is important to organize intergovernmental German-Ukrainian consultations under our joint chairmanship with Mr. Chancellor. I am convinced that such a large-scale event opens a new stage in relations between our states," he said.
