Latvia can help Ukraine export grain via its own ports - Levits
Latvia can help Ukraine export grain through Latvian ports, President Egils Levits has said.
He said this at a joint briefing with the presidents of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Estonia in Kyiv on Wednesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We talked with Mr. Zelensky that Latvia can help export grain from Ukraine so that the flow could go through Latvian ports. We called our governments after the meeting and we will take further steps to make this effort a success," Levits said.
He also said the presidents of the Baltic States and Poland support granting Ukraine EU candidate status and adopting this decision under the expedited procedure.
Presidents Andrzej Duda of Poland, Gitanas Nauseda of Lithuania, Egils Levits of Latvia and Alar Karis of Estonia arrived in Kyiv on April 13. They visited towns near the Ukrainian capital where they saw firsthand the consequences of Russian war crimes.
