Ukraine, Japan sign $100M loan agreement

Ukraine will receive a $100 million loan from Japan for development policy in the field of emergency economic recovery and a $2.3 million grant to strengthen the country's health care system and medicine.

That's according to the website of the Ukrainian government, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, April 28, 2022, the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan signed an agreement on a loan provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency for development policy in the field of emergency economic recovery and a grant to strengthen the health system and medicine in Ukraine.

Under the agreement, the Japanese government will provide Ukraine with a $100 million loan on concessional terms. The loan repayment period is 30 years, including the grace period of 10 years, and the interest rate is 1% per annum.

The funds will be used to stabilize the situation in Ukraine, in particular, to ensure priority social and humanitarian expenditures, health expenditures, support for internally displaced persons and other priority expenditures.

At the same time, a grant of about $2.3 million grant will be used to purchase medical equipment.
