EU to disburse second €600 M tranche in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine by May 20
The European Union will disburse the second tranche of emergency macro-financial assistance to Ukraine to the tune of 600 million euros by May 20.
"Yesterday, the European Commission adopted a decision necessary for the disbursement of the second tranche of the emergency macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine and for the loan of these funds on the capital market. The second tranche totals 600 million euros. The practical transfer of this sum is expected by May 20," Dana Spinant, Deputy Chief Spokeswoman of the European Commission, said at a press briefing in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
As noted, the European Commission has also made a decision today to create so-called "solidarity lanes" to help Ukraine export its agricultural products. These proposals are expected to be presented in detail during the day.
As reported, after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Union has shown solidarity and provided active political, economic, financial, military and humanitarian support to Ukraine. This assistance, in particular, includes the allocation of 1.2 billion euros in emergency assistance to maintain the stability and capacity of the Ukrainian state, whose economy is suffering from the Russian war.
