Ukrainian, U.S. deputy foreign ministers discuss Ukrainian grain exports

Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Dmytro Senik and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman have discussed Ukrainian grain exports in Seoul (South Korea).

That's according to a statement made by State Department spokesperson Ned Price, Ukrinform reports.

Deputy Secretary Sherman and Deputy Foreign Minister Senik also discussed the impact of Russia’s brutal war of aggression on global food security and our commitment to getting Ukraine’s grain to international markets," Price said.

The Deputy Secretary provided an update on U.S. assistance to Ukraine, including security, humanitarian, and economic assistance, as well as budgetary support and aid for long-term efforts.

"The Deputy Secretary emphasized the United States’ robust, continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia’s unprovoked aggression," Price said.

Russia on February 24 launched an unprovoked full-scale war against Ukraine. Because of Russia's aggression and its blockade of Ukrainian seaports, more than 20 million tonnes of grain remain stuck in Ukrainian ports. This caused a threat of global hunger, as Ukrainian grain accounts for almost half of all supplies under the UN World Food Program.
