Shmyhal: Ukraine to receive EUR 1B in aid from EU by end of July
By the end of July, Ukraine is to receive one billion euros in additional EU macro-financial assistance.
"Ukraine is to receive 1 billion euros in additional macro-financial assistance from the European Union by the end of July. Today, the finance ministers of the EU countries supported this proposal of the European Commission. Earlier, the European Parliament did so. Today, at the Government meeting, we also approved the draft order to attract these funds and authorized Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko and Governor of the National Bank Kyrylo Shevchenko to sign the memorandum," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal posted on Telegram.
As the PM noted, the financial support of partners is one of the four levers of Ukraine’s victory along with sanctions, weapons, and European integration. Macro-financial aid from the EU will help maintain financial stability in the country amid Russia's large-scale aggression.
"A resolution was also adopted at the meeting to allow attracting up to 200 million euros on preferential terms from Italy. The funds will be transferred through the IMF's administrative account to the general fund of the state budget to cover expenses," the Prime Minister added.
The Head of Government thanked the European partners for important consolidated decisions in support of Ukraine.
