Shmyhal inspects Izmail, Reni river ports
In Odesa, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal inspected the ports of Izmail and Reni, through which Ukraine exports products to European Union.
The head of the government wrote about this on Telegram.
"The Izmail and Reni ports in Odesa region re today Ukraine's export ‘gateways’ to European countries. Today, the government team inspected their facilities," Shmyhal wrote.
He added that over the six months of this year, cargo traffic through Ukrainian ports on the Danube River has increased by 2.4-5 times against last year.
The head of the government emphasized that thanks to the liberation of Snake Island by the Armed Forces, Ukraine received additional opportunities for export and import of products in this area.
"Even prior to the full-scale war, the government worked out the Strategy for the Development of Ukraine's Inland Water Transport until 2031. In the conditions of the criminal naval blockade by Russia, the issue has become even more urgent. The development of river ports will help expand export opportunities for Ukrainian products, including grain," Shmyhal noted.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to expert calculations, the liberation of Snake Island and the unblocking of the Bystre mouth will save businesses at least half a million dollars per day.
Early July, the Ukrainian Armed Forces completed a military operation to push the Russian invaders off Snake Island off the coast of Odesa. After that, the Bystre mouth reopened for vessels transporting agricultural products.
