NBU: UAH 2.48B remains on fundraising account to help Armed Forces of Ukraine
The balance on the special account the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) opened to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine is about UAH 2.48 billion.
Ukrinform reports this with reference to the central bank’s press service.
“Over UAH 74 million was remitted to the special account last week,” the report reads.
The NBU has already transferred over UAH 17.7 billion to meet the needs of the Ukrainian military, in particular: a total of UAH 950 million was sent for the National Guard of Ukraine, UAH 1,650 million for the National Police, UAH 13,401 million for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, UAH 980.2 million for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, UAH 774 million for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, UAH 18.3 million for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“An equivalent of more than UAH 19.8 billion has been wired into the special account since it was opened. That includes the equivalent of over UAH 7.1 billion that has been remitted from abroad in foreign currencies (U.S. dollars, euros, GB pounds, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, Australian dollars),” the NBU said.
As reported, the NBU on February 24 announced the opening of a special multi-currency account to raise funds for the Ukrainian military. The information about the is available on the central bank’s website.
