EU transfers EUR 1B in aid to Ukraine
The European Union has transferred EUR 1 billion in exceptional macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, with the first tranche of EUR 500 million already credited to the account of the National Bank of Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this in a Facebook post.
He added that the second tranche was expected to come tomorrow.
"EUR 1 billion is part of a large EUR 9 billion package of support for Ukraine in overcoming the financial consequences of the war. The funds will help finance priority budget needs," Shmyhal said.
He thanked the European Union "for such a contribution." "It is a significant investment in our common economic and financial stability and secure future," Shmyhal said.
