Ukrainian farmers harvest 17.5M tonnes of grain
Ukrainian farmers have already harvested 17.5 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 4.8 million hectares (41% of the area).
According to Ukrinform, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine said this in a statement posted on its website.
Agricultural producers in 11 regions of Ukraine finished threshing peas, whereas farmers in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions finished harvesting wheat on 99% of the area. Some 2.5 million tonnes of grain were threshed in the Odesa region and 2 million tonnes in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Farms in the Vinnytsia and Mykolaiv regions collected 1.6 million tonnes of grain each, Kirovohrad region - 1.4 million tonnes, whereas the Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions threshed more than 1 million tonnes of grain each.
A total of 17.5 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops were harvested on an area of 4.8 million hectares (41%) with a yield being 36.4 tonnes per hectare. Farmers collected 12.6 million tonnes of wheat from 3.5 million hectares, 4.4 million tonnes of barley from 1.3 million hectares, and 226,000 tonnes of peas from 101,000 hectares.
