About 375,000 tonnes of grain and other foodstuffs were exported from Ukrainian ports through the humanitarian maritime corridor.

Oleksiy Hromov, deputy chief of the main operational department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine - Ukrinform.

"Since the beginning of August, 12 vessels sailed through the humanitarian maritime corridor from the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdennyi to the Mediterranean Sea. A total of 375,000 tonnes of grain and other foodstuffs were exported from Ukrainian ports along the humanitarian corridor. No obstacles to the passage of ships were recorded," Hromov said.

As Ukrinform reported, ships transporting grain from Ukraine through the Black Sea for export are protected by a special buffer zone of 10 nautical miles (about 18.5 km).

On July 22, in Istanbul, at the proposal of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from Ukraine’s ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.
