Zelensky meets with founder of World Central Kitchen
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with Spanish-American chef Jose Andres, the founder of World Central Kitchen, an organization that has been providing food for people on the border of Ukraine and Poland since the first days of Russia's full-scale aggression.
The head of state said this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.
According to Zelensky, Andres founded World Central Kitchen and has been feeding people in hot spots for over ten years.
"Since the first day of the full-scale war, World Central Kitchen has been working on the border of Ukraine and Poland. More than 500 catering establishments operate in Ukraine and more than 130 million meals have been prepared for our citizens. Such sincerity and willingness to stand with our people is truly impressive. Happy to meet Jose Andres in person and infinitely grateful for the support!" he said.
According to the presidential press service, World Central Kitchen started working on the Ukrainian-Polish border from the first day of the Russian invasion and helped displaced persons, and today the organization launched its activities in many cities across Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, the state is ready in every possible way to support the activities of an organization of this level, which performs an extremely important humanitarian mission.
Andres, in turn, said at the meeting that World Central Kitchen would continue to help Ukrainians, including by supporting people in the territories that will be liberated from occupation.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the organization has prepared more than 200,000 portions of food per day for Ukrainian refugees on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
