The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, which presides over the Council of the European Union, Petr Fiala, announced his intention to convene an urgent meeting of the EU energy ministers to address the situation in the energy sector.

@EU2022_CZ will convene an urgent meeting of Energy Ministers to discuss specific emergency measures to address the energy situation," the Czech Prime Minister stated.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, due to Russia reducing natural gas supplies to Europe, gas prices across the continent broke all historical records.
Against the background of record prices for energy, European countries spent about EUR 280 billion on various consumer support projects.
