Ukraine exported its first million tonnes of agricultural products over past month – Zelensky

Ukraine has exported its first million tonnes of agricultural products via three sea ports over less than a month since the grain export initiative was launched.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ukrainian grain and the fact that our direction of supply to the global food market has restored will allow us to avoid chaos in the market, reduce the severity of the food crisis and prevent catastrophic shortages. Ukraine was, is and will be among the global food security guarantors,” the President of Ukraine stressed.

In addition, according to Zelensky, food exports will allow Ukraine not only to avoid the food crisis but create new jobs and ensure the sowing campaign in 2023.

“It is indeed an important result for Ukraine, for the Black Sea region, and the whole world. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this work. And I emphasize that this is fully the responsibility of partners to prevent any Russian provocations and the disruption of exports,” Zelensky noted.

A reminder that, as of August 25, 2022, Ukrainian farmers already harvested 25.3 million tonnes of grain.
