Kofod: Denmark directly helping Mykolaiv region
Denmark’s draft budget for the next year lists Ukraine as a top-priority recipient of financial and security assistance. In particular, Denmark directly helps Mykolaiv region.
"Yesterday, our government presented a draft budget for 2023. I can already tell you that in our budget proposal, Ukraine is a top-priority recipient of financial and security assistance. We will support you on both military and civilian tracks," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Jeppe Kofod said at a joint briefing with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Denmark’s top diplomat added that the provision of the weapons needed by Ukraine was also a top priority. "We should all make sure that Ukraine wins and Russia loses, so that such things that Russia is doing in Ukraine remain forever in the past. We have already provided EUR 400 million in aid and continue to provide appropriate and needed weapons and train Ukrainians," Kofod noted.
The minister added that Denmark had allocated approximately EUR 90 million in humanitarian and financial aid and was directly helping Mykolaiv city and Mykolaiv region.
"We help to restore the water supply system, heat supply system, reconstruct and repair municipal buildings so that people's apartments have windows protected from the cold, because we have to make sure that the Ukrainian people will be able to survive winter and repel Russia," Kofod stressed.
As reported, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark arrived in Kyiv on Thursday, September 1.
