ZNPP’s power unit No.5 connected to power grid
Power unit No.5 of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has been connected to the power grid.
Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom said this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
It is noted that ZNPP’s power unit No.5 was shut down because of nearby Russian shelling on the morning of September 1.
Currently, the power unit is gaining capacity.
In total, two power units are operating at the nuclear plant that produce electricity for Ukraine's needs.
As reported, on the morning of September 1, Russian forces shelled the town of Enerhodar using helicopters, guns and multiple launch rocket systems.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission led by Director General Rafael Grossi visited the Zaporizhzhia NPP on September 1. Five representatives of the mission remained at the nuclear power plant.
The ZNNP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, has been captured by the Russian military since March 4. Since then the invaders have places military equipment and ammunition in the territory of the nuclear plant, as well as have been shelling the surrounding area.
