Ukraine already exported 2M tonnes of grain through Odesa ports - expert
As of September 4, Ukraine exported 2 million tonnes of grain and other agricultural products through the unlocked Odesa seaports.
Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
"From August 1 to September 1, 1.7 million tonnes (of foodstuffs - ed.) were shipped from the seaports of Great Odesa. As of September 4, this figure has already reached 2 million tonnes," he said.
According to Marchuk, the capacities of Ukrainian seaports allow to ship 3.5 million tonnes of grain and oil crops every month.
As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine exported 3 million tonnes of grain and oil crops through alternative routes in July 2022.
Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres signed the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and foodstuffs from the Ukrainian ports of Odesa, Chornomors,k and Pivdennyi in Istanbul on July 22.
According to the Infrastructure Ministry, 86 vessels have left the Ukrainian ports since August 1, 2022, carrying agricultural products to 19 countries.
