Minister Galushchenko: Now it is impossible to repair power lines at ZNPP due to hostilities
At the moment, it is impossible to repair power transmission lines at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) due to hostilities.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The last [power] line connecting Zaporizhzhia NPP with Ukraine’s energy system – 330 kW Zaporizhzhia TPP-Ferosplavna power transmission line – has been disconnected due to a fire caused by shelling. Any repairs to the [power] lines are now impossible – hostilities are underway around the plant,” Galushchenko wrote.
In his words, Zaporizhzhia NPP’s de-occupation and establishing a demilitarized zone around the plant is the only way to ensure nuclear safety.
A reminder that the last power transmission line connecting Zaporizhzhia NPP with Ukraine’s energy system has been disconnected due to a fire caused by Russia’s shelling of the plant today. Power unit 6, which is used to meet the plant’s power needs, was unloaded and cut off the power grid.
